The method we use is the closed, gravity system. It is named after the founder of colonics, Dr. Wood, and is thus called the Wood Gravitational Method. It allows for the most comfort for the client. The person lies on the table where a sterilized speculum is gently inserted into the rectum. Filtered water, which is always under the direct control of the therapist, flows into the colon via a small water tube and out through the evacuation tube carrying with it feces and mucous. About half way through the colonic, the therapist will gently massage the abdomen to assist the colon's release of its contents. This process is completely professional and takes from 30 to 50 minutes on average.
 

 An enema will typically reach only the first 5" to 10" of the colon, that is if there is not sufficient gas blocking the water.  An enema can be painful since the gas is not first removed. A Wood Gravity Method colonic can reach the entire length of the colon, typically 5'-6' long, without the need to rush to the toilet to evacuate. In the beginning of a colonic usually gas is in the rectum, however it is easily released during this method of colonics through the exit tube which allows for more water to reach father into the colon resulting in more waste being removed.  This process has no noise or embarrassment and allows for more comfort and a more productive session. 

No. This is a closed system. There are no odors or messes. Everything is contained and emptied directly into the sewer line via the closed system.
